With tattoos becoming more popular literally everyday, this conversation might seem familiar to a lot of people. Some people even got homemade or self-made tattoos as their only tattoos. No professional work, just some DIY stuff.

But how easy is it to tattoo yourself? Can anyone try? Are there any things you should be aware of before tattooing yourself? We want to help you answer these questions.

What you need

So before starting off, how can you even tattoo yourself if you don’t have a machine? Well, this is quite easy nowadays. Here’s what you need:

• Tattoo needles: These you can order off eBay or Amazon. Try not to go too thin, as it’s always easier tattooing with a thicker needle (start off with a 12RL for example).

• Tattoo ink: Same as the above, just order it online.

• Gloves: These you can buy at your local drug store. Just make sure to use them only once.

• Vaseline: Also from the drug store.

• Kitchen towel: DON’T use toilet paper as it rips super fast. Just get the best kitchen towel the super market has to offer.

• Ink cups: You need these for the ink. Also order them online.

• Clean film: The clean film is to make sure you tattoo on a clean surface.

• Tracing paper / skin pen: Also order online.

• Bowl of soapy water

• Alcohol

If you got all this stuff, you are good to go.
